Crockett Row at West 7th Announces Call for Artists
for New Public Art Program Launch
Future outdoor gallery will celebrate creativity, community
MARCH 29, 2018 – FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Crockett Row at West 7th has announced a call for artists for the launch of its new public art program this year. With the goal to establish a mixed-medium outdoor gallery designed to celebrate creativity and community in Fort Worth, Crockett Row will collaborate with emerging and established artists on a number of projects, beginning with a series of three murals to be completed this summer.
Crockett Row is looking for selected artists to create engaging, inspirational and colorful murals that capture the energy of its location in the thriving Cultural District. Two murals will be located at the Currie Street entrance of the north parking garage and the other one will welcome visitors outside of the forthcoming FOODHALL at Crockett Row. Artists can apply and learn more at bit.ly/crockettrowmuralproposals. Submissions are due May 18, and selected artists will be notified by May 31.
As a part of the Cultural District, Crockett Row has long supported the local arts scene by hosting annual events like the Chalk Art Festival and establishing partnerships with arts organizations including the Arts Council of Fort Worth. Since 2014, it has also been home to ART7, a satellite gallery of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, a division of the Arts Council of Fort Worth.
“The installation of new public art is the natural next step in Crockett Row’s progression as a Cultural District destination,” said Monica Bermea, the marketing director at Crockett Row. “We look forward to working together with many talented artists to create a one-of-a-kind outdoor gallery.”
Other upcoming projects include a kids’ art wall designed to inspire creativity amongst Fort Worth’s youngest minds; the city’s first “Before I Die” wall where locals and visitors alike can share their hopes for the future; neon lighting in the paseos to enhance wayfinding; a signature mural to inspire social media sharing; and yarn-bombing, a type of street art.
